St. Mary’s men’s schola will next sing for the traditional Latin Mass on Sunday, April 15 at 9:00 a.m., the first Sunday after Easter, also called Low Sunday. Vidi aquam is a preparatory chant for the principal Mass on Sundays throughout Paschaltide, which is sung during the sprinkling of holy water before Mass in place of Asperges me, used during the rest of the year.
St. Mary’s men’s schola will next sing for the traditional Latin Mass on Holy Thursday (April 5) at 7:30 pm, which will mark the beginning of the Sacred Triduum of the Lord’s death and resurrection. The liturgies of these days are the most important and solemn of the year, and the chants work within the liturgies to shed light on the mysteries enacted by them. One example is the Gradual for the Mass of Holy Thursday.
Fr. Daniel Heenan of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter and former St. Mary’s parishioner will celebrate the 9am Mass on October 16th. Fr. Heenan is Parochial Vicar in Guadalajara, Mexico and Head Chaplain of the St. Francis Xavier Mission Trip and the St. Junipero Serra Spanish Institute.
After Mass he will give a brief presentation on the work of Mission Tradition, the new mission office of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter
