Dear Friends,
Thank you! There’s no other way to say it, thank you! You’re receiving this email because over the course of the last two months you’ve contributed to the mission of St. Mary Mother of God Parish by your prayers and by your kind donation. This giving is what’s keeping us going on several fronts.
First and foremost, your gift is an expression of a sacrificial union with Jesus each time the priests here celebrate mass. Though we are physically separated we are as close as ever through the Spirit’s work expressed in your donations. Second, your gift directly contributes to hope. Much of our daily life has been overturned, but people take hope and confidence from St. Mary’s steadfast ministry. Thousands have viewed our streamed content over the last two months. Confessions have been heard and counsel given every single day on our grounds. Marriage preparation and educational ministry continue unabated.
Thanks to you, our charitable giving has not stopped. Examples include:
Our parish is the single largest contributor to the voxcorona funding effort to help unemployed church musicians in DC.
Over a thousand dollars to the GW Newman Center
&
The Mustard Seed community in Jamaica.
We’ve also been able to keep all our parish staff fully employed and supported throughout the pandemic.
On the administrative front, your giving supports a number of ongoing projects, all planned/approved before the pandemic began:
The waterproofing of the rectory exterior walls
Maintenance of the church gardens and grounds
The restoration of the sacristy cabinetry
Engineering analysis of the church stonework
Let no one say the Church is closed! We’ve been busy on the grounds providing for present needs and planning for the future, but we couldn’t do it without the love and support of our parishioners. Again, thank you! Be sure to follow us on the website and social media (@saintmarydc) so that you’ll get all the latest details, including eventual plans for resuming on site worship!!
With much love, I pray for you and invoke our Mother Mary’s intercession for you and your loved ones.
Your priest,
Fr. De Rosa
