For our Extraordinary Form Mass for the Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord on the feast day itself, Monday, January 6, at 7:30 p.m., Chantry will sing splendid Renaissance polyphony including Byrd’s great Gradualia Propers for Epiphany and—since for the Renaissance the Star of Bethlehem was related to another star, Mary the Star of the Sea—Victoria’s beautiful Missa Ave maris stella. The music for the Mass will also include great motets inspired by the story of the Magi.

Wednesday December 18 - Join the early music ensemble, the Suspicious Cheese Lords, for their annual Christmas concert. It’s a musical journey through the Yuletide story, from texts associated with Advent, to the Annunciation and the Visitation, through Christmas and into Epiphany. Repertoire will include works of Renaissance composers William Byrd, Hans Leo Hassler, Christopher Erbach, and Pedro de Cristo, among others. The evening’s featured work will be a Magnificat (Secundi Toni) by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. Sing-along carols round out the evening! suspiciouscheeselords.com
Fr. De Rosa is seeking volunteers to help with sacristy work. The tasks are simple but important to the proper maintenance of our sanctuary: some ironing, vacuuming, checking up on supply stocks…perhaps a commitment of one hour per week at a time of your choosing. Latin Mass Attendees will mark the feast on Sunday at 9am as per the Extraordinary Form Ordo. In the English mass calendar (Ordinary Form) the observance feast is transferred to Monday Dec. 9. English masses will be celebrated Mon. Dec. 9 at midday and at 6:30pm.

This Saturday December 7, following the 9am mass Sr. Mary Bernadette of the Daughters of Charity will offer part of our continuing series on parish devotions. She’ll be explaining the history, theology, and practice of the devotion to the Miraculous Medal. This particular devotion has been a huge part of our parish history so we encourage all to attend as we deepen our relationship with Mary our Mother.
